Do Smartliner liners warp in extreme heat or cold?

The liners are specifically designed to maintain their shape due to their material composition. They are manufactured from a rubber and plastic blend called Low Density Semi-Flexible Polyethylene (LDPE). The rubber component allows for flexibility, while the plastic provides the necessary rigidity to ensure the liners keep their structural shape and their raised lip edge.

The exact blend varies slightly depending on the liner’s location: first-row and cargo liners contain a bit more plastic to hold their shape and withstand heavy use, whereas second and third-row liners contain a bit more rubber to maintain flexibility.

Heat and Reshaping: Warmth is actually beneficial for shaping the liners prior to installation. If the liners arrive with curled edges or deformations from shipping, laying them out in the warm sun for 30 to 60 minutes will help them fix those deformations and regain their proper shape.

Cold Weather Performance: The interior floor liners are manufactured from a low-density polyethylene blend designed to keep the floor mat flexible in cold weather while maintaining its reinforced, custom-molded shape. This cold-weather flexibility ensures the mats do not become dangerously brittle or lose their precise wall-to-wall fit when temperatures drop.

Extreme Temperature Durability: For exterior protection, the heavy-duty Smart Coverage™ Truck Bed Rubber Liners are explicitly designed to withstand extreme temperatures and the harshest conditions, engineered so that they refuse to crack, rust, or break.

Overall, the custom liners feature a raised Spill Saver lip and strong molded outer edges that heavily reinforce their designed shape to prevent deformation and securely lock in daily messes.

Feature List:

  • Durable LDPE rubber-plastic blend for excellent shape retention and flexibility
  • More plastic in front-row and cargo liners for added rigidity and heavy-use durability
  • More rubber in second and third-row liners for greater flexibility
  • Warmth helps restore shape — sun exposure recommended for curled edges or shipping deformations
  • Remains flexible in cold weather without becoming brittle
  • Truck bed liners engineered for extreme heat — will not crack or break
  • Reinforced raised Spill Saver lips and molded edges prevent deformation
